I guess we've all listened to our fair share of The Undertones over the years, and now their out with their second album after the comeback. with Paul at the vocals. Haven't heard the last one, it's on its way I'm told, but personally I rate the first one just as good as the first Utones albums. Great stuff!

But kinda interested in hearing what you lot think of Ray's "WaveWalkers", Steve's "Anodyne / Marfa Lights", John's "Rare", Dee's "No flies on Frank" and "X-Valdez" records and Ciaran's new stuff that's up on MySpace......

I love the lot, although there's severeal different genres covered it's still great imho. What do you think?

bought the last (new) Undertones album and was very disappointed, didn't grab me at all

got 3 of the Rare singles, quite liked them

saw Ciaran and Ray live last year and like the stuff on Myspace but never managed to get hold of Damian's album

I've heard Steve's Anodyne / Marfa Lights, Ray's Wavewalkers and Ciarans tracks on MySpace and really impressed with all of them, yet they are all very different - make me wonder how the Petrols would sound today should something be in the pipeline Wink .

I guess Steve's "Tensor" album sounds the closest to the Petrols but stands up in it's own right. The first few tracks in particular are great, "Lemon Rind" is my fave - top lyrics, top chorus.

I've been luck enough to get hold of various Wavewalkers tracks over the last 2 years or so and think Ray's really onto something, would be great if he could get something published. A really diverse set of styles, reminds me of the Petrols, Massive Attack & so many others, yet sounds totally unique.

Biggest surpise to me was Ciaran' stuff - not in the quality of songs, plenty of evidence from the Petrols back catalogue to prove his talent - but (assuming it is Ciaran singing) his voice - wow, almost shocked me. I guess I shouldn't have been so blinkered in thinking otherwise.

So how do I get hold of Damian's and Johns stuff?

Since you're asking, I'll try and make it available. I did a search on both, and found that both are out of print, and/or kinda difficult to get hold of. Special import stuff from Japan on Dee's albums... would've cost a small fortune. I'll try and see if it's ok for me to post some mp3's for free... if not, a trade is in order... Very Happy

Hi All,

Of course I do love Wavewalkers and Ciaran's songs. They are so great. Tones is OK if you don't expect too much; but we do nomally, yeah.

Regarding Mr.Dee, there are two albums I have; McGee Poptones "A quite revolution mc5017cd" which I guess you can still get easily through McGee. The other one;"Higher Grace" by X.Valdez, I doubt it's availablity, published by Japanese company called Toy's Factory in 2000. In my opinion, X.Valdez is rather better. Wink

Shall I sell X.Valdez maybe @Petrol's coming gigs? Laughing
